Why choose nonprofit?

Too many people believe that Nonprofit Jobs are low paid positions.  This is only true if you are comparing the salaries of large private organizations to salaries in charity organizations.  Nonprofit careers include positions in government agencies, healthcare, and education. Basically any organization that is not concerned about making a profit from their efforts, but instead helping people or a cause.

The truth is that work in nonprofit organizations are known to provide their employees with more motivation simply because the employee is supporting a cause that they believe in, so at the end of the day their work was significant even though they are sitting behind a desk.

The careers nonprofit sector offers positions that are more flexible when it comes to job responsibilities. Many employees in a nonprofit sector wear multiple hats and there is always work to be done.

Bottom line, anyone considering a career between private and nonprofit needs to decide what motivates him or her. Is it mainly money or are their other criteria the position? Simply put, you have to look forward to going to work in the morning.
